CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)– American Imaging Management (AIM), a leading specialty benefit management company serving 42 health plans and more than 32 million members, has aimproviderportal changed its name to AIM Specialty Health. The move reflects AIM’s evolution to a specialty benefit management company delivering a growing portfolio of clinical solutions including radiology, cardiology, specialty drugs, oncology and sleep medicine.
“As an industry leader, AIM has been partnering with health care payers to drive the appropriate use and cost effectiveness of diagnostic imaging procedures for over two decades,” said Brandon Cady, president and CEO of AIM. “Our proven track record of delivering value to our clients through an imaging-focused program led us to expand into other clinical areas where we could leverage existing capabilities and expertise to promote evidence-based, high-quality and affordable care.”
Building on its market-leading specialty benefit management platform, AIM’s expansion into cardiology, specialty drugs and oncology over the past few years has enabled health plan clients to maximize the value of their benefits management programs through consolidation into a single provider-focused platform. As a result, AIM’s enhanced solution portfolio has enjoyed tremendous membership growth in recent years in the following specialties:
cardiology: 14 million members
specialty drugs: 11 million members
oncology (medical and radiation therapy): 11 million members
AIM also recently launched its sleep medicine program designed to improve the clinical appropriateness and cost effectiveness of sleep diagnostic testing and ongoing therapy services for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Over 13 health plans covering more than 12 million lives have committed to adopting AIM’s sleep medicine program over the next 12 months.
In addition to growing its portfolio of clinical management programs, AIM has also expanded into direct consumer engagement services via its Specialty CareShoppersm program. The service already covers 3.5 million members across 10 states and will expand to eight million lives by the end of 2012. AIM’s Specialty CareShopper is a proactive outreach program that engages members in selecting high-value providers by offering information on high-quality, low-cost provider options available within the member’s local community, specific to the service ordered by the member’s physician. National employers are using this program to support employees with provider selections within “reference pricing” benefit designs and other innovative incentive programs. AIM not only provides pricing information specific to the health care service and available providers, but also presents the scoring to indicate provider capabilities.
